Why Spay / Neuter

Spaying and neutering is one of the most important decisions you can make for your cat’s health and wellbeing. Explore the benefits below to see why veterinarians and animal welfare organizations recommend it for most cats.
Protection

Help Them Live Longer, Healthier Lives

Spaying and neutering prevents serious health conditions, including reproductive cancers and uterine infections. Cats that are sterilized also tend to live longer and experience fewer medical conditions throughout their lives.
Behavior

Reduce Spraying, Roaming, and Aggression

Spayed and neutered cats are less likely to spray indoors, roam in search of a mate, or engage in aggressive behaviors. This means a happier cat, fewer household frustrations, and a lower risk of injuries and illness from fights or accidents.
Prevention

Prevent Pet Overpopulation and Save Lives

Millions of cats enter shelters every year, and many never find homes. Spaying and neutering prevents unwanted litters, reduces shelter overcrowding, lowers animal control costs, and helps create healthier communities for cats and people alike.
