The following information on this page is specifically for kittens/cats that you claim as your pet.

before booking an appointment

In order for your pet kitten/cat to be spayed or neutered at Good Mews, they must meet the following eligibility requirements:

1. Not a Feral or Stray Cat: This appointment section is not for feral/stray cats. Good Mews does offer TNR appointments on Mondays and Wednesdays specifically for feral/stray cats.

2. Weight Requirement: All cats and kittens must weigh at least two pounds.

3. Age Requirement: All kittens must be at least eight weeks old and all cats must be under the age of seven.

4. Vaccination Requirement: The only vaccine that is required by law is Rabies and we must have valid proof from a licensed veterinarian at the time of check in for the procedure. If your kitten/cat is over 12 weeks old and is not current on the Rabies vaccine, they will be given the vaccination on the day of the procedure for $10. Valid proof is considered the Rabies vaccination certificate. A Rabies tag is not considered valid proof.

But most importantly, your cat is a member of your family, and they are going into surgery. We know you want to ensure they are in the best hands possible, and we are here to make this procedure as comfortable for you as it is for your kitty. faq

What if I only need vaccines?
At this time, we are not offering vaccine only appointments.

Are there any additional charges if my cat is cryptorchid or has an umbilical hernia?
Yes, those prices are listed above. If your cat is found to have an umbilical hernia or is cryptorchid, there are additional charges. If any of these circumstances are found during your cat’s procedure, we will call you to notify you of the situation.

Are there any additional charges for pets that are pregnant or obese?
These are added on a case by case basis and can be up to $20. We will proceed with surgery as requested.

Will an exam fee be charged if we do not perform surgery?
If your cat is examined by the doctor and cannot have surgery that day, your deposit will be held and the appointment can be rescheduled for a later date. That deposit will then be applied to the new surgery date.

What if my pet gets sick the day before surgery?
Please email spayneuter@goodmews.org to reschedule my surgery appointment.

What if I have a question that is not addressed on this page? Please email spayneuter@goodmews.org for more information. Please allow at least 24 hours for a response.
