about me

Poppet came to us as a stray cat after living outside. A family found her on a freezing cold day and tried to search for a family, but nobody ever claimed her. So, Poppet came to us for a better chance at a forever home. You will notice that Poppet has thinned hair along her sides, back and limbs which has slowly filled in since arriving. Since we don't know her history, we're unsure how long this has been going on. We did start a course of steroids which has helped her fur growth and we want to continue that at least for another month (through the end of April 2022) before weaning or changing the dose. We did try to start a hypoallergenic diet (rabbit) on Poppet, but she said "ew, no thank you" so for now we will leave that decision to trial with her adopter's veterinarian if indicated in the future. All this talk about her funny looks, when she really just wants you to know that she's a very sweet girl. She is a fine citizen at the shelter with the other cats and did well with dogs in her foster home. Poppet loves affection and is ready show she's someone's "little sweetheart" just like her name implies.
