Michelle is a beautiful, sweet-natured torbie rescued from Lake Lanier in 2010. She had a congenital defect in her left eye and had surgery to remove it. She is very friendly with other cats and loves people, but it takes a while to earn her trust. She is playful and loves to be petted – especially on her back and tail - but does not like to be picked up or held. It takes her a while to earn her trust, but once she does, she will chatter, make biscuits and sit in a bed nearby allowing you to pet her gently. Michelle will also sometimes play with toy balls especially if they jingle. She had I-131 treatment for hyperthyroidism in May 2018, but she is one of the 5% of cats that become hypothyroid as a result. She will have to take a medication for life that can be put in her food to keep her blood values in an appropriate range. Once Michelle feels comfortable in her new home, she will make a wonderful companion. Because she has lived with cats her whole life, she must be adopted into a home where another friendly cat lives.
