about me

Astrid came to us after her owner could no longer care for her. She is a sweet and curious girl. If something exciting is going on in the shelter, then she likes to be right there to check out the happenings. She always has a look of amazement in her eyes. Astrid is doing well living with the other residents so should be able to blend into any new home. She loves being petted and is just a lovely gal. She was adopted for about a month and came back to us due to being quite ill. We've spent the past few months getting her back in stable health. Astrid has a heart murmur, but her echocardiogram showed no structural heart disease at that time. We recommend her veterinarian assess the need for a recheck echocardiogram during annual exams. Astrid also has chronic kidney disease meaning that they are not functioning to their full ability. This is a progressive disease without a cure, but we have her on some medications to reduce symptoms and keep a good quality of life. Astrid had a dental in October 2022 and had 1 simple extraction. We recommend annual dental exams to assess the need for future care. During her dental she had a small, ulcerated mass removed from her lip which came back as squamous epithelioma. While this is a type of cancer, it is one that has a very low chance to spread or cause systemic illness. Astrid needs an adopter that is willing to follow-up on and manage care of these chronic issues. She is a super sweet girl that would love to spend the rest of her time with a loving family. She will reward that care with lots of love!
