Good Mews Fundraising
One of the most important volunteer activities you can do for Good Mews is helping with fundraising. We are looking for more people to help at events, plan events, or better yet, be in charge of an event. We are always looking for creative people who may have new ideas to help us raise money.
If you would like to help or are able to be the leader of a fundraiser, please contact .
Not all fundraisers have to be huge, so if you have a “small” idea and can be in charge, we need you!
Serendipity’s Big Adventure
Serendipity’s big day began on February 14th...a sweet day for a sweet girl...oops, wrong cat! Serendipity really couldn’t be described as a sweet girl. In fact, she had been adopted two other times in her life but got returned because she was aggressive. Over the years, “Dip” has certainly mellowed, but still not sure the adjective to use for her would be sweet.
However, a long time volunteer named Janet did always have a soft spot for Dip. Even thousands of miles between them couldn't stop this adoption. So Dip began her big adventure to her new home in Oregon. The day began with a tranquilizer, harness and a leash...not 3 favorites for any cat.
Then the ride to the airport and her trek through security. Not knowing what to expect, Dip was a trooper even though one airport employee did back away, just in case, once Dip came out of her carrier.
The next big step was getting her puppy pad changed and she was ready for her flight. To everyone’s surprise she was quiet and didn’t make a peep. But the biggest surprise of the day was when Dip got to Janet’s house, came out of the carrier, rubbed against her face and purred and made biscuits.
It just goes to show that there is the right home for every cat… even if you have to wait years and go thousands of miles. Serendipity’s life is really just beginning in her new home and she is ready to begin her life as a loving cat!
Evie’s Story-Kindness of a Stranger
Evie’s story reminds us of the kindness of strangers. A lovely woman rescued Evie and her two littermates when their momma disappeared. She noticed they were hungry, cold and sick so she did what she could. The little tabby, whom we named Evie, unfortunately disappeared for two days. When she returned, it was with a crushed tail and broken leg. She brought the kittens inside to her bathroom but she already had 3 rescue dogs and her family living with her in a small trailer. Plus, they needed more medical care than she could handle. She called other shelters but was told they would most likely be euthanized. She put out a desperate plea for help which is when Good Mews stepped in. Little Evie’s tail was beyond repair so she had to have surgery to amputate it. Currently her leg appears to be doing well and after consulting with a specialist we were advised to monitor her for pain and hold off on any more surgery.
Evie and her littermates have been spayed and neutered and are available for adoption. They are so cute - one is a flamepoint siamese and the other is a lynx point siamese. If we can get them to sit still long enough, we will post pictures!!
Due to the kindness of a stranger, these three beautiful kittens are now safe and awaiting their forever home.
Update: Evie and her sister Ellie, the lynx point got adopted together and found their forever home just before Christmas.
The third sibling Ethan, a beautiful flamepoint siamese, entered the kitten room with lots of new friends and is still available for adoption!
Update: Ethan got adopted with another kitten from the kitten room for the new year. What a great ending to a this story!

In addition, I am developing products featuring my SnipPet mascots, Stuart and Sunny SnipPet, and 100% of the profits from those items will go toward your spay/neuter efforts.
In addition, 10% of the selling price will go to the best cat shelter in the world, Good Mews. I will donate that percentage to their spaying and neutering efforts.”
