1988-2008... 20 years of purrs... 20 years of purpose...
We are very excited to announce that we are once again gearing up for our Annual Spring Flea Market. This year promises to be even bigger
and better than last year’s event. Bigger because we have more space for more donations and better because it will be held over 2 weekends
with more chance to find some fantastic bargains.
Last year we raised close to $18,000!! Please donate your new or gently used items and help us go beyond $18,000 this year. With an extra weekend and lots of extra space we know we can do it!
We would like to extend a special thank you to Rebecca at Mimm’s for allowing us to have 3 store fronts to help us make the 2008 Flea Market the largest so far!!
Our dates for the event are Friday April 25th - Sunday April 27th and again the following weekend on Saturday, May 3rd- Sunday May 4th.
Friday, April 25th will be our Preview Day for you to get first pick at the best of the best..... all for an admission donation of $10.00.
We will also be featuring our bake sale with some very special homemade baked goods.

Micah, formerly known as “Mr. Clean” peacefully passed over the rainbow bridge on Friday evening.
Several years ago he was rescued from terrible conditions as he was living with a hoarder. Upon rescue he and many others came to live at CCR. All of the cats were thin, dirty and in poor shape. The day after he came to CCR, he must have been so excited to be in a clean space with food and water that he spent the whole first night grooming himself. The next day all of the other cats still looked pretty much the same but not him.... so inevitably his name became Mr. Clean!
After living at CCR for several years, he still wasn’t getting adopted. When he needed a change of scenery, he came to Good Mews.
Mr. Clean was again very excited with the change and seemed to thrive in his new environment. He loved the extra space and all of the volunteers who gave him the much needed attention he was wanting.
Soon after arriving however, he seemed to be different. He began to lose weight and become depressed. After a diagnosis of hyperthyroidism, we decided to make him a part of our H.A.L.O. program to help him find his forever home. He really needed his own person since that is what he truly always wanted and deserved.
After becoming part of H.A.L.O., Mr. Clean got his wish and got a real home of his own with our volunteer Joyce Fetterman. Joyce not only gave him a great and loving home but a new name came along with it...... and Mr. Clean became Micah!
Although he was only with her for 6 months, Micah had the best he had ever had. He followed Joyce around, slept in her bed, and greeted her at the door every night after work. Joyce helped Micah’s wish for his own human and a real home become his reality!
Our H.A.L.O. program allows our cats with many medical needs find loving homes when otherwise they may remain in the shelter. Donations to the program allow Good Mews to pay for all the medical care these kitties need while living out their lives in a real home, not a shelter. If you would like to help support the kitties currently in the program, such as Frankie Boy, Winnie, Oksana, and many others please click on Donate Today!
Thanks to everyone who came out to our first Bingo night with P.A.L.S. (Pets are Loving Support).
It was a great evening with non-stop laughs and non-stop winning. Three of our volunteers won prizes ranging from $50- $250 for having a winning bingo card.
Our winners were Jean Hess, Karen Redlew and Vicki Dodson so congratulations to all!
A special thank you to Andrea Cartier for arranging this fun night to help raise money for our kitties. We hope to do Bingo night again so if you missed out this time, you’ll want to make sure you join us next time for this great fundraiser!

Fluffy couldn’t be happier. She is available for adoption at The Cat Clinic of North Georgia. Click HERE if you are interested in adopting Fluffy. Since leaving GM and living here at the clinic, she is living it up in her own big space.
While at GM, Fluffy lived in a special needs room because she was afraid of too many shelter cats. Her new bigger space is just what the doctor ordered!!
It’s great to see her so happy in her new “temporary” home!!
Fluffy is a beautiful long haired calico tabby who came to us after being abandoned in her owner’s garage. Luckily for Fluffy, a neighbor found her and contacted us. Fluffy lived her life as an only cat and is afraid of living in the main shelter with 85 other cats so she is currently living in one of our special needs rooms.
On Friday, February 8th, Fluffy is making a big move.
She will be living as the office cat at the new Cat Clinic of North Georgia. We are very excited as she will have more space to walk around and be able to spend more time with people, which she does enjoy. She will also be up for adoption at the clinic as The Cat Clinic of North Georgia is going to become an off site adoption site for us. Long term plans include rescuing cats from Animal Control in Forsyth county and have them be up for adoption at the clinic, under the Good Mews name.
If you are interested in meeting Fluffy, please visit her in her new home.
She will be helping the Cat Clinic of North Georgia celebrate their grand opening on Sunday, February 10 from 12-4 pm. When Fluffy gets adopted, she will be entitled to a free Wellness exam good up to 30 days after her adoption. The free Wellness exam with Dr. Jill Pruett is in also in effect for any cat adopted at Good Mews.
If you are interested in being an off site adoption location for us, please email .

Good Mews is very excited to announce we will be the first shelter in Georgia to roll out the ASPCA®’s Meet Your Match Feline-ality™ Program. We plan to have it up and running by late summer!

Meet your Match for felines was introduced by the ASPCA® in 2007. The launch of Feline-ality™ in 2007 is the latest addition to the ASPCA®’s Meet Your Match™ constellation of adoption programs that include research-based animal behavior assessments—all aimed at increasing adoption rates, and reducing return rates at shelters, thus combating the problem of pet overpopulation in shelters today.
According to the ASPCA®, “the key to developing successful adoptions lies in making good matches between adopters and pets, thus creating lasting bonds,” said Dr. Emily Weiss, the ASPCA’s senior director of shelter behavior programs, and researcher of ASPCA®’s Meet Your Match™. “Feline-ality™ is a tool that does precisely this; and everyone—adopters, shelter staff, and most of all, the cats—benefits from the program.”
Meet Your Match™ is a program of ASPCA®.
