We currently have 80-100 cats and kittens of all colors, ages and personalities looking for their forever home. Our adoption counselors are experienced matchmakers ready to suggest candidates for your ideal lifetime companion. They will also teach you how to properly introduce your new cat to existing pets. Adoption hours are Saturdays from 10 am - 4 pm and the second, third and fourth Sunday of the month from 1 pm - 4 pm. Weekly appointments can be scheduled by calling 770-499-2287 or emailing (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
The adoption process will take 1-2 hours so please plan on setting aside this block of time when you visit. Adoption fees are $125.
If you adopt two cats, the first cat’s adoption fee is $125, the second cat’s adoption fee is $50.
We have some cats that are very bonded and are required to be adopted together. The adoption fees for mandatory pairs are $125 for both.
All of our cats have been examined, spayed or neutered, microchipped, dewormed, and vaccinated against Rabies, Distemper and Feline Leukemia. All cats older than 6 months have tested negative for FIV and Feline Leukemia.
Also included in the adoption fee of your new family member is a dose of Revolution good for 30 days before they go home, a bag of Science Diet cat food and any other vetting, surgery, and bloodwork that had been needed prior to adoption.

Policies
Potential adopters will be asked to sign an access agreement before entering the main shelter. (Bring as many members of your household as possible, including children, to be sure your family and the cat are compatible.) A counselor will then interview you about your expectations and guide you through the shelter to meet our many residents. After that, it is up to you - many times a cat will choose you!
Once you fill out an application, get approved and are ready to sign the adoption contract, we will need the following: two forms of ID bearing your current address, one with a photo. If you rent, proof of a paid pet deposit, a copy of your signed lease agreement outlining pet requirements and the name and phone number of your landlord. Cash, check or VISA, Master Card or American Express are accepted to cover the adoption fee.
Good Mews follows the advice of many leading animal behaviorists and understands that kittens do best in environments with other cats or kittens. It helps them to be better socialized, better behaved and less likely to exhibit destructive behavior when they do get bored by themselves. Following this advice, we will only adopt kittens under the age of 7 months of age to a home with another cat or kitten or in pairs from our shelter if the home currently has no cats.

Herman and Tinkerbelle are what we call “kitty soul-mates”. Their love for each other is heartwarming and they truly cherish each other. At Good Mews we would never dream of breaking up a bonded pair. Animal’s love for each other is just as strong as the love people have for each other. And there is nothing sweeter than seeing two cats cuddle together and protect each other. And this is the kind of love Herman and Tinkerbelle have for each other.
This pair came to Good Mews several years ago and because of their extreme shyness, they were with us for a long time. Then one day a nice man came in and said he wanted to adopt some cats that didn’t have the same chance as the outgoing, friendly cats. So he was introduced to Herman and Tinkerbelle. He was willing to give them all the time they needed to adjust to their new home.
Herman and Tinkerbelle always remained shy in his home, but at times they would sit with him on the couch and watch TV. He did not care that they were not social..he enjoyed having them in the home and the cats were very happy. That is all that mattered to him.
Sadly, Herman and Tinkerbelle suddenly lost the perfect home for them when their dad passed away. Because there were no family members that were able to take them in, they came back to Good Mews. At least they still have the comfort of each other, but they are going to take some time to adjust. They would love to have another quiet home and a family that will accept them for who they are.
