HALO description

HALO (Home At Last) - The program’s goal is to find permanent, loving homes for our special needs and geriatric cats.

HALO cats are typically overlooked for adoption because of age, ongoing medical conditions or behavioral issues - the most common reasons beyond euthanasia at traditional animal shelters.  Funds designated to this program help pay for the ongoing medical care of these cats while they wait for AND once they find their perfect home.

Currently we have 18 HALO cats who are all in permanent homes. We greatly need your donations as the medical costs are very expensive. One of our HALO cats has one medicine that costs several hundred dollars for just one bottle, and that is not his only prescription!  Please click on the Donate now “PAW” at the side of this page and specify HALO!

Gypsy and Cinder were abandoned and Good Mews was able to take them in. As it turned out, Gypsy and Cinder did not like humans at all!!! And I don’t mean they just hissed at us and told us to go away. We could not even touch them, much less look at them! But we were not about to give up on these beautiful cats. They were worthy of a loving home, and we were going to provide that for them, no matter how long it took. So we called in a troop of experts and they dedicated their time working with them. It took awhile, but Gypsy and Cinder finally decided we weren’t so bad. They were moved to their own special room for a couple months so more volunteers could socialize with them and all the hard work paid off. These cats love people and love attention! Now they are seen out in the main shelter, playing with the other cats and seeking attention from the volunteers and visitors on adoption days.
As you can see, Gypsy is a very handsome boy and he also has a wonderful personality. He would do best in a home with another cat or two to play with. We would prefer that he does not go home to a family with dogs.
Cinder is a beautiful girl with golden eyes who is very loving and sweet. She is a bit shyer than Gypsy, so a quiet home would be best for her without any young children or dogs. She would need to go to a home with other cat friends.
Come meet these amazing cats soon!
