HALO Cats: New Additions!

A VERY SPECIAL UPDATE:

Both Ringo and Troy are on their way to their forever homes!! The wonderful success of the Halo program allows senior cats to enjoy their golden days in a home of their own rather than in a shelter. However, sometimes donations for these cats are overlooked because they are not in the shelter. The cats of Halo are some of our most expensive to care for so please DONATE today. Click on the paw at the top of the page and specify “Halo” to help Ringo, Troy and all the other 16 Halo cats!!

See Ringo’s homecoming in our Happy Endings section!

Meet Ringo! Ringo was dumped at a vet clinic so we are unsure of his exact age. A rough estimate was given as anywhere from 9-20 :) years of age. To look at him he appears to be closer to the age of 15. Ringo is a super, sweet orange tabby who suffers from kidney disease, arthritis and hyperthyroidism. He is great at taking his medicine and will eat it from a pill pocket! He currently gets fluids 3 times a week to help with his kidneys and that can easily be taught to do at home.

How can you resist those eyes!

Meet Troy! Troy’s story is even more sad - if that is possible. Two years ago, he was given up the the vet clinic because his owners no longer wanted to deal with his medical problems and wanted him euthanized. The clinic felt he still had a lot of living to do so they kept him as a clinic cat. The vet clinic has now closed it’s doors so Troy has come to join the Good Mews HALO family!

Troy is black and white and approximately 18 years old with a long list of medical issues and an even longer list of medicines! He is diabetic, arthritic, has a senstive stomach and is blind. Even with all of his issues, this boy is so sweet and wants to keep on living. He does take insulin shots along with many pills but he also takes his pills in a pill pocket.

Snip Pets!

Carrie Murtha, a Good Mews volunteer has started her own line of art work called the Snip Pets!
Good_Mews

What exactly IS a SnipPet?

It’s simple. A snip~pet is…
1-PET art created with SNIPS of paper, paint and clay.
2-a PET that has been spayed or neutered...the kindest SNIP of all!

Make sure YOUR pet is a SnipPet...it is the only way to stop pet overpopulation and the consequent euthansasia of millions of healthy, adoptable cats and dogs EVERY year!

From Carrie: “I will donate 10% of any art sales generated by you directly to your Spay/Neuter efforts. I always ask each customer how/where they heard about the SnipPets, so that i can easily track what group to donate to.  In addition, I am developing products featuring my SnipPet mascots, Stuart and Sunny SnipPet, and 100% of the profits from those items will go toward your spay/neuter efforts.

In addition, 10% of the selling price will go to the best cat shelter in the world, Good Mews. I will donate that percentage to their spaying and neutering efforts.”
