The HALO (Home At Last) program was created to find permanent homes for a select group of our “special needs” cats. These cats are usually overlooked for adoption due to age, ongoing medical conditions or behavioral issues. Good Mews will continue to provide medical care for these cats who will benefit from the individual attention and care that can only be given in a home environment.
Adopting a special needs cat may cause concern for future medical bills, especially for an aging cat. When someone adopts a cat enrolled in the HALO program, most veterinary expenses will be paid for by Good Mews when taken to an approved veterinarian. This includes medical treatment relating to their existing condition and any other secondary conditions that develop as a result of the existing condition. The adoption fee will also be waived.
People interested in adopting a HALO cat must be approved during the standard adoption process, be personally interviewed by the Shelter Manager and agree to the conditions of the HALO contract.
Millie suffers from health problems affecting her intestines and it is often difficult for her to go to the bathroom without straining. Recently we put her on new medicine and her condition does seem to be improving. Millie is our newest member of H.A.L.O. and we are trying to find her permanent home. We will continue to pay all of her medical bills.

This beautiful girl is a bit quieter than her brothers, but loves petting and lots of play.
Good Mews has been awarded a $6,000 grant for the support and expansion of our foster care program.
Our Grant Committee applied for it last November and just received notification of the award.
This sum will go a long way toward caring for more abandoned and abused kitties in the coming year and we are grateful to the Petsmart Charities Foundation for their generosity and to our Grant Committee for their continuing efforts to secure funding for Good Mews.
This grant will enable us to rescue more cats and kittens from death row in animal control, and bring them to our Good Mews foster homes as space allows.
