Penne and Sasha, a.k.a. Merry and Pippin's Happy Ending Story

I wanted to again thank the people of Good Mews for helping me find Merry and Pippin and getting us all together. I adopted Merry and Pippin (then Sasha and Penne) in May and it has been great to see how I fell into their family structure (they are mother and favorite daughter). Sometimes I’m a second parent for Pippin, sometimes I think I’m the butler for them both.

Merry (the mother) certainly seems more at home in the quieter environment with just the three of us. She likes to sleep by her scratching post, up high, or between the kitchen and myself (but that is purely coincidental, I’m sure). She likes to be a lap kitty from time and she is definitely the “morning person” among us, often waking up not only myself but Pippin as well.

Pippin (the kitten) is as playful and energetic as one would expect. Where Merry took a couple of days to get use to her new home Pippin took about two minutes. She loves windows she can sit by, wrestling with Merry, and attacking the monsters on my computer screen.

Her favorite toy is some shiny tassels and a bell attached to an elastic line and then a plastic rod. However she treats it like other cats treat their favorite toy mouse; she’ll go and get it if I put it up and drag it around with her, even sleep with it from time to time.

They are always the center of attention when I have guests over and are pretty good with new people. We’ve all bonded well in the few months together and I’m looking forward to many years to come.

Mickie's Happy Ending Story

My family and I would like to thank Good Mews for giving us the opportunity to adopt Mickie.  She is just an angel and such a wonderful addition to our family.  We adopted Mickie from Good Mews over 2 years ago and we wanted to update everyone with how she is doing.  We were a little concerned when we adopted Mickie that our other cat Aerio would have some issues sharing the house with another cat.  To our joy and surprise, after a week of Aerio hizzing towards the room we had Mickie quarantined in (as we wanted to avoid any fights and Mickie was sick with a respiratory illness), the two became the best of friends!

After a couple of weeks of Mickie being with us, we realized Mickie was sick.  She had constant diarrhea so we took her to the vet many times.  This ended up being an ongoing concern for over 4 months, but Mickie is finally on a treatment in which she is comfortable and happy (and diarrhea free)!  We also realized that Mickie was probably abused by her first family (or someone else if she did not have a previous family).  She is still very skittish around other people, but with us and our immediate family she is quite personable and a joy to be around as she loves to cuddle.  When it thunders out we find that she is very scared and choose to hide behind anything closest to her.  With all that we have witnessed with Mickie, we strive to make this home a comfortable one for her.  About a year and a half ago, we welcomed a new addition to our family.  Aerio and Mickie now have a human sister, Shayna.  Throughout my pregnancy, Mickie was constantly by my side (at night she would lay next to my belly to listen to the baby) and was a great support for me.  Now, Shayna loves her cats.  They just don’t like her very much right now because she’s at an age where she chases them around the house.  Mickie tends to avoid her, but it is obvious that she loves her new sister.

Mickie adjusted very well to our home and we had a wonderful time getting to know her.  It is wonderful coming home to both her and Aerio, and a pleasure for us to watch them play together (they are like “Frick and Frack”).  Thank you Good Mews for taking such good care of our Mickie and letting us adopt a wonderful cat.

Thank you,
Joel, Khara, and Shayna Santorelli

PS: Mickie is the calico, Aerio is the tabby

Shannon and Heather's Happy Ending Story

Good_Mews

Hi!  I adopted Shannon and Heather on Dec. 27th.  They are doing quite well, mostly, still a few problems with Heather hissing at Shannon…
though sometimes she is affectionate with her.  Anyway, here are a few pictures.  I’m not a great photographer, but hope these will help.

Thanks,

Mary A. Axford

Snip Pets!

Good_Mews

Carrie Murtha, a Good Mews volunteer has started her own line of art work called the Snip Pets!
Good_Mews

What exactly IS a SnipPet?

It’s simple. A snip~pet is…
1-PET art created with SNIPS of paper, paint and clay.
2-a PET that has been spayed or neutered...the kindest SNIP of all!

Make sure YOUR pet is a SnipPet...it is the only way to stop pet overpopulation and the consequent euthansasia of millions of healthy, adoptable cats and dogs EVERY year!

From Carrie: “I will donate 10% of any art sales generated by you directly to your Spay/Neuter efforts. I always ask each customer how/where they heard about the SnipPets, so that i can easily track what group to donate to.  In addition, I am developing products featuring my SnipPet mascots, Stuart and Sunny SnipPet, and 100% of the profits from those items will go toward your spay/neuter efforts.

I just put 6 SnipPet paintings on Ebay! The starting prices are super low, so you better begin bidding now!

In addition, 10% of the selling price will go to the best cat shelter in the world, Good Mews. I will donate that percentage to their spaying and neutering efforts.”

For just a couple of more days, click SnipPets-Ebay to bid on her work.
