1988-2008... 20 years of purrs... 20 years of purpose...
Hello Good Mews! I think I have finally figured out how to send pictures of Radar (adopted sept 24th) in his new home ! Radar took to his new home right away- was not at all afraid and very anxious to explore every room. He follows me from room to room, and when he wants me to follow him (to play with him on his kitty condo with a feather toy or to throw his 3 balls downstairs so he can chase them ) he will make cute little grunting noises (like a little piglet ! ) and lead me to the appropriate room (if I can figure out how to video him chasing his balls, i’ll send it - he is hilarious ! ) He curls up on his fur blanket in the den when he watches TV and he was sleeping on my bed every night until he discovered “the cave on the cliff” in my towel closet! Everyone has commented on how they can tell Good Mews took such good care of him because he looks so healthy and is so friendly and social when company comes over ! Thanks again for all you do ! - mary
Just wanted to give everyone a quick update on how Monty is doing. At this very moment he is curled up sleeping on his head on the living room window
seat, next to the beautiful Miss Nico (one of his many fans). As you can imagine, he was pretty scared the first couple of days, which isn’t surprising considering that he’s probably spent very little time -maybe none - in someone’s home. The poor guy was afraid of the ceiling fan, and had no idea what to make of the stairs. In spite of all that, within about three days he was meeting the other cats, and by the end of the first week he was out of “his” room and roaming around the house.
He’s a really smart cat and was spent the last month watching the other cats very closely. His first experience with the pet door to the screen porch was great fun. He had been out on the porch before, but didn’t know how the pet door worked. One morning he saw Ollie go through it, and rushed over so fast you’d think he was chasing a mouse. He immediately jumped through it without a bit of hesitation. Now he’s Ollie’s constant companion on the porch in the mornings, watching the birds and squirrels. His favorites are the hummingbirds and bunnies. We actually have some baby bunnies this late in the year, and they come right up to the screen to eat, which is thrilling for Monty. He’s also been discovering all the cat beds, climbing spots and windows around the house. He got up in my lap for the first time last night while we were watching TV in the den. Now, it’s well known that my lap “belongs” to Mina, so it will be interesting to see what happens if he tries to jump up there when she’s in it!
The past month has not been completely without spats and confrontations, but nothing serious. Monty has learned that it’s fun to harass the “old ladies” (Maggie and Geisha, a.k.a. Boo), and he likes to follow them around and make them growl at him. He’s never aggressive - he’s just has fun annoying them. Mina, the other “old lady” sometimes growls at him and sometimes plays with him, so she’s keeping him guessing. He loves the foster kittens and enjoys visiting them, though I suspect it has something to do with that yummy wet kitten food he’s always trying to steal. He’s definitely a rakish boy with quite a bit of mischief in him.
The most heart-warming part about having Monty, though, is that he has become a good friend to Ollie, which is exactly what we wanted. Every morning when my alarm goes off those two come trotting down the hall side by side, coming to remind me that it’s breakfast time. They also like to wrestle and play together, and have been known to have three-way games of stalk and chase with Nico. They have also been spotted snoozing together and grooming each other, but shhhh...don’t tell anyone.
Hope you enjoy the attached photos. Feel free to share them with other Monty fans out there. Feel free to check in on Monty anytime. He enjoys having a fan club. :)

Carrie Murtha, a Good Mews volunteer has started her own line of art work called the Snip Pets!
What exactly IS a SnipPet?
It’s simple. A snip~pet is…
1-PET art created with SNIPS of paper, paint and clay.
2-a PET that has been spayed or neutered...the kindest SNIP of all!
Make sure YOUR pet is a SnipPet...it is the only way to stop pet overpopulation and the consequent euthansasia of millions of healthy, adoptable cats and dogs EVERY year!
From Carrie: “I will donate 10% of any art sales generated by you directly to your Spay/Neuter efforts. I always ask each customer how/where they heard about the SnipPets, so that i can easily track what group to donate to. In addition, I am developing products featuring my SnipPet mascots, Stuart and Sunny SnipPet, and 100% of the profits from those items will go toward your spay/neuter efforts.
In addition, 10% of the selling price will go to the best cat shelter in the world, Good Mews. I will donate that percentage to their spaying and neutering efforts.”
Please check out her wonderful products by clicking Snip~Pets. Also check out more about her artwork and her spay neuter efforts in helping our furry friends at Snip-Pet-Blog.
Another great holiday gift idea for you and your friends and an added bonus of helping the Good Mews kitties!
