Ozzy's Happy Ending Story

Ozzy was adopted on August 21, 2006. As a shy semi feral cat I expected his progress to be very slow. Although by some peoples standards he may still be too shy but if you ask me, he is just perfect. He is still shy and afraid of strangers but that is ok. That is just who he is. Every night he jumps on the couch next to my husband and has a look of surprise in his eye everytime he sees him! He gets along great with my other cats, especially his buddy Jinxy. Today for the first time I found him grooming Jinxy’s head. I wish more people would appreciate a shy cat. Once you gain their trust there is nothing like it . With me who he trusts, he is just like a baby. My husband and I joke that Ozzy will be a “normal” cat in about a year. He loves his new home and we love him too!

Alexander's Happy Ending Story

Happy Thanksgiving Good Mews!

We are happy to report that Alexander (Milo) is doing great and getting along with his new brother Max a 3 year old whom we adopted from Save Our Strays (SOS) on the same day as Milo.

When my husband and I first went to Good Mews on November 4th, 2006 to find a fun loving kitten I had a hard time choosing one until one of the counselors pointed out Alexander (Milo) who was hidden all by his lonesome at the very top of the cat tree.  When he was finally coaxed out of his hiding place and when he popped that tiny head up I knew he was the one for me. We were told that he was a little shy and skittish and had only been at the shelter for a month.  Once he was handed to me I automatically bonded and fell in love with him. I never thought I could love a cat as much as my last cat who passed away 7 months earlier but I did and I renamed him Milo short for (My Love).

Milo bonded with his big brother immediately!!  At first we thought he would be afraid of his 15lb brother who looked like Godzilla compared to all 3lbs of Milo. We were shocked that Milo wanted to play with him at first sight but we were cautious to ensure that Max felt the same way, which he did 3 days later.  Now it’s almost impossible to keep those two apart.  Milo is no longer that shy skittish kitten he once was, he is now a very outgoing and fun loving kitten.

We are very happy we went to Good Mews everyone was very helpful and professional in ensuring a match can be made.  Alexander (Milo) will be very well cared for in his new loving home for years to come.

Sincerely,

The Davis Family.

Splotch has been here only a few hours, and she’s already out from under the bed. I decided to take a nap in her new room to help her feel at home. She took that opportunity to cuddle with me, purr loudly and exfoliate my face. She spent the better part of an hour purring, napping and making biscuits on my legs.

Splotch met her two sisters. There was no hissing or spitting. In fact, our oldest cat just sort of rolled her eyes as if to say, “Another one??” I think she’s the perfect addition to our clan.

Pandora

Good_Mews

Pandora is a beautiful, purebred Maine Coon.  She had a rough beginning, coming from a breeder/hoarder situation, and eventually found her way to Good Mews with some of her housemates.  All the cats were shy and hesitant at first, and had to learn how to be cats!  Pandora is no exception, and has recently discovered her “inner kitten”.  Although still learning to trust humans, she adores toys and likes other cats.  Pandora’s fellow Maine Coons have found their forever homes, and Pandora is hoping hers will come along soon, too!

Snip Pets!

Carrie Murtha, a Good Mews volunteer has started her own line of art work called the Snip Pets!
Good_Mews

What exactly IS a SnipPet?

It’s simple. A snip~pet is…
1-PET art created with SNIPS of paper, paint and clay.
2-a PET that has been spayed or neutered...the kindest SNIP of all!

Make sure YOUR pet is a SnipPet...it is the only way to stop pet overpopulation and the consequent euthansasia of millions of healthy, adoptable cats and dogs EVERY year!

From Carrie: “I will donate 10% of any art sales generated by you directly to your Spay/Neuter efforts. I always ask each customer how/where they heard about the SnipPets, so that i can easily track what group to donate to.  In addition, I am developing products featuring my SnipPet mascots, Stuart and Sunny SnipPet, and 100% of the profits from those items will go toward your spay/neuter efforts.

I just put 6 SnipPet paintings on Ebay! The starting prices are super low, so you better begin bidding now!

In addition, 10% of the selling price will go to the best cat shelter in the world, Good Mews. I will donate that percentage to their spaying and neutering efforts.”

For just a couple of more days, click SnipPets-Ebay to bid on her work.
