1988-2008... 20 years of purrs... 20 years of purpose...
Here is Socks (formerly known as Dusty) and Cilla. As you can see, I am not as productive now in my home office, but I think they are happy. :)
** EXTREME MAKEOVER - HOME EDITION **
Dear Good Mews - Especially Shannon, April, Dana, Volunteers and Foster Moms!
After several months battling illnesses, Calvin, Thomas & Precious are well and have settled nicely into their new forever home with Heavy-B and Snickers. Please share the attached pictures with everyone so they can see how well they are doing. Most importantly the one where I had 4 of the 5 cats in bed with me, helping me surf the internet on my laptop! Heavy-B is still afraid of Calvin, even though he outweighs Calvin by double, so he wouldn’t join us. We are one BIG happy family and thankful for all that everyone did to make it possible.
Sincerely,
Marci Griffin
Sylvester and Casanova both agreed to adopt me on December 30, 2006. We moved into a new apartment together. They settled in as if they were with me forever – no spats, no problems.
Sylvester is a lover boy. The first day, he sat splayed on my lap – front feet on either side. The first night, he shared the pillow and snuggled with me. He continues to snuggle whenever we are together – he puts his head against mine. He plays fetch with his mouse, which by the way he likes to feed by putting it in his food bowl. He carries it around alternately with a shoelace. He also makes “biscuits” with both his front and back feet. For a big guy - still 21 pounds – he has a very timid voice. He likes to sit in my lap while I work on the computer.
Casanova (Cass) loves to have a heating pad in his bed. In addition, he enjoys getting under the covers – he will spend most of the day there. He laid in the sun the whole first day after he came home. He also enjoys playing with his mice. He throws them himself, chases them and also carries them. He talks whenever he takes one from one room to another, much to Sylvester’s disbelief. His favorite time to play is between 3 am and 4 am. It is great fun to watch him. He is so full of energy.
They both want to sit in my lap at the same time. Because of Sylvester’s size, this is rather difficult, but they work it out. Sylvester takes most of the space with Casanova squeezing into what is left. When one leaves, the other instantly takes his place. At night, Sylvester sleeps up on the pillow while Casanova gets under the covers. Thankfully I have a queen size bed so we can all fit, but I am usually the one with very little space. They both stalk the birds they see on the deck. I have lots of bird feeders they can see through the screen. Sylvester even speaks to them. Unfortunately we are on the second floor, so there are no squirrels.
I don’t know what I would do without these guys!!!! It is as if I have had them for years. I would not give them up for ANYTHING.
Thank you Good Mews for giving me the opportunity to love these guys!

Pandora is a beautiful, purebred Maine Coon. She had a rough beginning, coming from a breeder/hoarder situation, and eventually found her way to Good Mews with some of her housemates. All the cats were shy and hesitant at first, and had to learn how to be cats! Pandora is no exception, and has recently discovered her “inner kitten”. Although still learning to trust humans, she adores toys and likes other cats. Pandora’s fellow Maine Coons have found their forever homes, and Pandora is hoping hers will come along soon, too!
Carrie Murtha, a Good Mews volunteer has started her own line of art work called the Snip Pets!
What exactly IS a SnipPet?
It’s simple. A snip~pet is…
1-PET art created with SNIPS of paper, paint and clay.
2-a PET that has been spayed or neutered...the kindest SNIP of all!
Make sure YOUR pet is a SnipPet...it is the only way to stop pet overpopulation and the consequent euthansasia of millions of healthy, adoptable cats and dogs EVERY year!
From Carrie: “I will donate 10% of any art sales generated by you directly to your Spay/Neuter efforts. I always ask each customer how/where they heard about the SnipPets, so that i can easily track what group to donate to. In addition, I am developing products featuring my SnipPet mascots, Stuart and Sunny SnipPet, and 100% of the profits from those items will go toward your spay/neuter efforts.
In addition, 10% of the selling price will go to the best cat shelter in the world, Good Mews. I will donate that percentage to their spaying and neutering efforts.”
Please check out her wonderful products by clicking Snip~Pets. Also check out more about her artwork and her spay neuter efforts in helping our furry friends at Snip-Pet-Blog.
Another great holiday gift idea for you and your friends and an added bonus of helping the Good Mews kitties!
