Arugula's Happy Ending Story

For anyone who has ever adopted a shy animal, you truly understand one of the greatest human-animal bonds you will ever experience. Recently one of our shy kittens, Arugula, a.k.a. Aggie was adopted by a volunteer.
Here is her happy ending!

It’s Aggie, writing you with an update on my new home. I really like it here a lot! I have lots of beds to sleep in, and toys to play with, and trees to sit on and I even have my own special tree in my room! I still eat my breakfast and dinner in my room and when I am done, waiting for my mommy to come get me, I lay on my tree and relax and burp.

I have a brother and sister that are way older than me, and they just ignore me. I have another sister, Marlee, that plays with me. We run and chase and wrestle! I like her a lot..she is a lot of fun! Then I have another sister, Sydney. She hates me. When I first got here, she hissed and growled at me. Then she would sit and stare at me. Finally I got tired of her staring at me so I started to chase her. I chase her through the house really fast and daddy said it looks like lighting is going by. Mommy said that is naughty behavior and that we need to work on that, whatever that means!

One day I overheard my mommy telling someone there were two reasons why she brought me home. One, because she loved me, and two, because she did not think anyone else would bring me home because every time visitors came to the shelter I was always hiding under a pile of my friends. Well!!! I cant help it if I did not want anyone to look at me or to touch me! I was scared! It is not my fault I was shy. But after a few days of being home, I sure showed her! She looked at me and said ‘ Where is my shy little Aggie? She disappeared!’ See..with just a little time and patience, my true self came out! Now mommy says I am a little monster!

Every night we have ‘Aggie and Mommy’ time where we lay in the bed together. I roll around and we snuggle and mommy gives me kisses and I give her head butts and we talk. She tells me I am the sweetest, most affectionate kitten she has ever had! And she means it!! Can you believe it?? Me! I bet you don’t, but she is not lying.

We also talk about my sister and two brothers, Basil, Cilantro, and Pesto that are still at the shelter. I miss them. She says she still spends time with them. She gives them special messages for me and she says that they are doing a lot better. We say a prayer for them every night that they will get a special home just like mine in the new year..because we both know they will be just like me if they find their forever home.

Well, I better go. I hear my mommy fixing my dinner! I have to go yell and scream at her. She just loves that!
Thanks for all that you did for me!

Love,
Aggie Mae

Cali's Happy Ending Story

After being at Good Mews for over 2 years, Cali finally found her forever home and her big day was this past Saturday! Cali is a beautiful calico, very sweet and a bit independent. Perhaps that is why she always got overlooked on adoption days. Everyone always commented how sweet she was but no one really took a second look.

On Sunday March 30, Cali was featured in Sandra Eckstein’s Pet Dish column in the Living Section of the AJC, along with many other shelter animals who have been overlooked! Immediately after the article came out we were bombarded with over 20 calls of people interested in meeting Cali.

She went home on Saturday as did many other of our adult kitties. Once Cali was adopted, many others went home with the families who were interested in adopting Cali. Calicos and Torties were all the rage this weekend at Good Mews!!

A special thank you goes out to our friend Sandra Eckstein and the AJC.... without her column Cali may still be waiting for her forever home!

Squeak's Happy Ending Story

Who says babies and cats don’t mix?
Good_Mews
Here is the story of our GM kitty Squeak in her brand new home! This letter is from her new mom!

I recently adopted Squeak and wanted to provide an update about how she is doing. She is doing well and is settling in. She and our other cat have not completely warmed up to each other but they definitely do not have any problems with each other. On the other hand Squeak has adopted our 10 week old daughter, Annaliese. She usually wants to be in whatever room Annaliese is in and as you can see from the attached photos Squeak loves Annaliese.

The pictures where Annaliese is in the pink sleeper were taken 2 hours after I got Squeak home. The other pictures were taken the following day. Even if Annaliese is not lying on the play mat, Squeak loves to lie there.

Squeak is so sweet and loving and instantly became a part of the family.

Best Wishes,
Kimberly Geyerman

Snip Pets!

Good_Mews

Carrie Murtha, a Good Mews volunteer has started her own line of art work called the Snip Pets!
Good_Mews

What exactly IS a SnipPet?

It’s simple. A snip~pet is…
1-PET art created with SNIPS of paper, paint and clay.
2-a PET that has been spayed or neutered...the kindest SNIP of all!

Make sure YOUR pet is a SnipPet...it is the only way to stop pet overpopulation and the consequent euthansasia of millions of healthy, adoptable cats and dogs EVERY year!

From Carrie: “I will donate 10% of any art sales generated by you directly to your Spay/Neuter efforts. I always ask each customer how/where they heard about the SnipPets, so that i can easily track what group to donate to.  In addition, I am developing products featuring my SnipPet mascots, Stuart and Sunny SnipPet, and 100% of the profits from those items will go toward your spay/neuter efforts.

I just put 6 SnipPet paintings on Ebay! The starting prices are super low, so you better begin bidding now!

In addition, 10% of the selling price will go to the best cat shelter in the world, Good Mews. I will donate that percentage to their spaying and neutering efforts.”

For just a couple of more days, click SnipPets-Ebay to bid on her work.
