Description
Abigail and her friends are our rescued kitties from Pennsylvania. . The ASPCA contacted us and asked if we would be willing to assist in taking in some cats that were rescued from a sanctuary there. We said of course we could help!
The ASPCA and the Elk County Humane Society in PA rescued nearly 400 cats from the sanctuary. The cats were found living in deplorable conditions on the first floor of a two-story building outside of Pittsburg. Several people assisted in the care of the cats and over 50 were transported to Georgia. Good Mews was able to take in 12. On the 4th of July we went to pick up our cats at the Atlanta Humane Society and brought them to their temporary home until permanent loving homes can be found.
You would think after everything these kitties have been through they would be weary of humans, but they are the sweetest angels you will ever meet. They purr when you pet them; some will even hug you. They were so excited when we placed them in their intake cages and they saw their comfy bed and food and water, they were purring up a storm!
We are so thrilled and honored to be able to help these cats and can’t wait to learn more about their personalities. They have been through so much in their lives and they deserve a loving home. We can’t wait to find those homes for them. But until then, we are going to enjoy having them with us. Please come by and meet them!
We will give updates as we learn more about them!
Update-Abigail is a very vocal girl with a lot to say! She is asking for you to come see her and be with her, but when you go sit with her, she gets nervous. But once you sit and talk to her for awhile and slowly pet her, she starts to feel comfortable and calms down. She is a beautiful girl that just needs a loving, patient home. Once she starts to feel loved and secure, she will be a wonderful kitty. She loves people and attention, it just takes her a little while to feel safe. I hope that special someone comes to see her soon.
Update-Abigail has come a long way since she first came to the shelter. She is not as shy as she used to be and really likes people. She enjoys being petted and will roll over for belly-rubs! Sometimes when she is feeling frisky, she will let me kiss that little belly of hers! Abigail really is a beautiful girl, and I think she would do great in a home. She may be a little shy at first in a new enviroment, but once she knows she is safe and loved, she will be a wonderful addition to a home. She also loves other kitties and we often see her chasing and wrestling with some of her best buddies. She will also cuddle and groom them.

Frankie is a sweet boy that had a rough beginning. He was found living outside when he was a small kitten. He would go between a restaurant and a dental office. The people working at the dentist office would feed him and they made a little shelter for him in the winter. This had to be a lonely life for Frankie! A volunteer heard about him and he was trapped and brought to foster care until there was space at Good Mews.
Frankie was a little scared at first about being indoors because he had lived his whole life outside. His foster mom worked with him and he quickly came around and would purr and purr when she pet him.
Frankie loves other kitties and bonded with a couple of his foster siblings. He also loved his foster mom and always wanted to be close to her. He would assist her while on the computer, sit on the cushion behind her neck on the sofa, and liked to sleep tucked right into her.
Frankie may be a little shy in a new environment, but as you read, he quickly warms up and will bond with his new family. He is a wonderful cat that would love to find a forever home.
