Good Mews got a call one day from some employees at Pike’s Nursery. They had found two newborn kittens in a truck and didn’t know what to do with them. They called us and we said we would be right over to pick up the babies. A horrible thunder storm was brewing and we needed to get these two babies to safety. We saw mama cat, but she was frightened and would not come to us. We didn’t want to leave her behind and we wanted to reunite her with her babies. So a trap was set and fingers were crossed.

The next day the employees called and said mama cat was in the trap! We went to pick her up and reunited her with her babies. Sadly, mama cat had not been around people in a long time and had been living outside, fending for herself, so she was a bit weary of us. The little family went to foster care until the babies were weaned.  Mama cat was named Bellona.

Bellona is still a bit weary of people and is still learning to trust us. We have a lot of people working with her at the shelter and she is really starting to respond. Hopefully in time she will gain our trust and not be so nervous. She really is a beautiful girl and deserves the chance at a good life.

She is going to take some time to adjust to a new home, but some people really love the challenge of working with shy cats because they know once they gain that cat’s trust, it is the most rewarding experience. I don’t think Bellona is an exception. She just needs someone willing to work with her.
Bellona must be adopted into a home with another cat or cats because she watches them and learns off of them.

I will give updates as she progresses!
