Good Mews found out about a situation where someone had over 50 cats living in stacked cages in a dark shed. They had one light bulb for light. Some of these kitties had been living in these conditions for about 3 years. Obviously this is no way for any living being to live. We were able to assist with some of the cats, and a couple other groups were also able to help.
Most of these cats have never been socialized and only knew one person: the person who kept them in the cages. They lived in fear and always wondered what was going to happen to them.
Nina and Shadow are two of these kitties and are very afraid right now. They are going to need a loving, patient adopter so they can learn to trust at their own pace. It may take months, or it could take days. They just need the chance to learn what having a loving home is like. Once they feel safe, I know they will be wonderful companions.
Nina and Shadow are very bonded because they had lived in their cage together. They rely on each other and are required to be adopted together.

Snickers and friends lost their home when their guardian had to leave town for a very long extended period of time and he did not have anyone to care for them. He was very sad to have to re-home his cats and we could see how painful it was for him, so we agreed to help. It is always hard to have to leave your furry friends behind but sometimes you have to make decisions that are in the best interest of the cats, and that is what he did. We promised him they were safe with us and we would provide them with all the love and care that he did until new homes could be found.
Right now they are scared and confused and do not understand where they are, which is always the case with cats that come from loving homes. This behavior is nothing new to us and we are prepared. We are going to do all we can to make them feel loved and secure and give them a lot of attention and in no time they will start to feel better. They will soon realize Good Mews is a fun place, not a scary place!
Just by petting and sitting with them, I know they are sweet cats. They are beautiful kitties and I am looking forward to learning more about them. Once I do, I will give updates!
Update-Snickers is a beautiful long-haired black cat with gorgeous golden eyes. She enjoys the company of other cats but also appears to enjoy her alone time. She loves people and when you pet her she likes to rub her head against your hand and arm and will purr up a storm with delight. She loves attention and is so happy when people give it to her. She would be thrilled to have a forever home again.

Summer is a gorgeous cat that loves sleeping with her favorite people. Right now she is very nervous because she doesn’t understand why she is at the shelter and not at home with her family. For reasons unknown to us, she was no longer able to live with them so she came to Good Mews. She does get scared when she hears a loud noise so a quiet home would be best for her. She enjoys being petted and talked to. She will need some time to adjust to a new home, but once she is comfortable, she will be a very loyal and loving companion.
Shy kitties are often overlooked but once they get into a new home, their wonderful personalities do emerge. Hopefully someone will look past Summer’s initial shyness and give this girl a chance to shine!

Have you ever had a friend who you really liked and got along great with? You laughed, hung out and had a good old time. Then all of a sudden he got all moody and started ignoring you or lashing out at you for no reason? You later found out he had a hard time trusting people and when he got close to them, he got scared and pushed them away. Well, it is not only people that have trust issues. Animals can also be afraid to let people in, and that is how Tigger is. Tigger has had a few people in his life that he really cared about and trusted, but they have let him down. So now he has a hard time trusting them. He is a very lovable cat that wants attention and someone to care about him, but when he starts to feel like they are getting too close, he will sometimes get moody. He doesn’t mean any harm by it, that is his way of just protecting himself. But Tigger really does want a stable home and I know in time when he starts to feel secure and knows his new person is never going to leave him, he will begin to trust. It is just going to take that special person to give him the time he needs and let him be who he is.
Like I said, Tigger really is a lovable cat that likes to sit in laps and will rub his face all over you. He likes to sleep with is favorite person and check out what is in the fridge when you open it! He also has a playful side and enjoys the laser light.
He will need a quiet home with no kids or other animals. If you think you are the right home for Tigger, please come meet him.
A generous donor has paid for Tigger’s adoption fee!

Herman and Tinkerbelle are what we call “kitty soul-mates”. Their love for each other is heartwarming and they truly cherish each other. At Good Mews we would never dream of breaking up a bonded pair. Animal’s love for each other is just as strong as the love people have for each other. And there is nothing sweeter than seeing two cats cuddle together and protect each other. And this is the kind of love Herman and Tinkerbelle have for each other.
This pair came to Good Mews several years ago and because of their extreme shyness, they were with us for a long time. Then one day a nice man came in and said he wanted to adopt some cats that didn’t have the same chance as the outgoing, friendly cats. So he was introduced to Herman and Tinkerbelle. He was willing to give them all the time they needed to adjust to their new home.
Herman and Tinkerbelle always remained shy in his home, but at times they would sit with him on the couch and watch TV. He did not care that they were not social..he enjoyed having them in the home and the cats were very happy. That is all that mattered to him.
Sadly, Herman and Tinkerbelle suddenly lost the perfect home for them when their dad passed away. Because there were no family members that were able to take them in, they came back to Good Mews. At least they still have the comfort of each other, but they are going to take some time to adjust. They would love to have another quiet home and a family that will accept them for who they are.

Toni spends a lot of time at the shelter curled up in her kitty bed, sleeping. I know she is dreaming of a quiet home with someone who will love her forever. Toni used to have a loving home, but her human passed away and left Toni behind. Toni was very scared and confused when she came to the shelter. Her whole world as she knew it was turned upside down. She has never been around so many cats and activity, so she keeps to herself, hoping someone will come in and take her home. She is a very sweet girl that enjoys being petted and will purr with happiness from the attention.
Toni is one of my favorite kitties at the shelter right now because she really tugs at your heart-strings. Every animal deserves a nice home and because of Toni’s shyness, she may be over-looked. I hope someone comes in and falls in love with her like I have.
A generous donor has paid for Toni’s adoption fee!

Tristan and several other cats were rescued from a situation that started off with good intentions, but then quickly got out of hand. Someone rescued cats that were about to be euthanized at animal control but then it got to be way many cats for 1 person to care for. The situation was brought to our attention and with the help of other rescues, all of the cats were placed. We don’t know the history of these cats. Most probably had a home at some point and ended up at animal control. They are all very loving kitties that are just so happy to be alive and on their way to a new home.
Tristan is a very beautiful cat, but don’t tell him that! He said boys aren’t supposed to be beautiful, they are handsome or cute. But we think Tristan is beautiful, no matter how much he fusses at us when we call him that! He is an outgoing fellow that is looking forward to his very own home to run around in and finding warm sunny spots to nap. He also wants a home where he will get a lot of attention. Tristan loves people and wants nothing more to hang out with them at home and play fun games. Tristan will definitely keep someone on their toes, but I doubt we will hear any complaints!

Before Honeybee became a Good Mews kitty, she probably had a pretty rough life. Honeybee was brought to animal control just as she was going into labor. How scary is that? Thankfully a rescuer was at the animal control pulling cats and said she would take Honeybee and her future babies. Honeybee had 6 beautiful kittens and she was a terrific mom. Now she is ready to find her own home.
Honeybee is a total lap cat and would love to sleep with her new family every night. She is very sweet and loving. She also loves to play and her favorite toys are bouncy balls, toy mice and anything with bells. The laser light is also a big hit!
So please come meet Honeybee and consider giving her the loving, safe home she deserves.
