Madison is a tiny girl that has the most adorable little face. To me she resembles a little owl. Madison came to Good Mews several months ago and was quickly adopted. She was later returned because she wasn’t adjusting to her new home.
Madison is a shy kitty that will need a patient adopter that will be willing to give her some time to adjust. We think a quiet home would probably be best. She really is a sweet girl that likes attention. When I hold her she will cuddle into me and she pretty much stays there until I place her down. She likes to play and will roll around on her back when you dangle a toy in front of her. Madison loves treats and when you have a bag of treats in your hands she will look up at you with those adorable round eyes of hers and say “may I have some treats please?”.
Often times shy kitties are over-looked for the more outgoing, social cats. But once a shy cat gets home and you are patient and work with them, they do come around. And once they do, they are the most wonderful, special kitties in the world. They just need a chance. And our sweet Madison needs a chance. So if you want to bring a shy sweet girl into your life, please consider Madison.

Meryl and some of her friends came to Good Mews from a shelter in Alabama. That shelter was shut down and some of their former volunteers contacted us and asked if we would be willing to take in some of their cats. They had 80 cats to place and were struggling to find placement or homes for all of them. We feel it is important that all rescues need to work together so we were more than happy to help them. We went to pick up the kitties and they did very well on their long trip back to Good Mews. Now we have promised all of them that we will find them a wonderful new home to call their own.
Meryl is a very beautiful girl with striking green eyes. She is very friendly and playful and loves attention. She would make a wonderful companion. She hasn’t let all the changes in her life get her down and she is ready to get on with her life and join a nice family. Once we learn more about Meryl we will give updates!
Update-Meryl is a very sweet girl that would really benefit from a forever home. Meryl is a bit on the overweight side and being in a home, her new family can help her maintain her weight. At the shelter we have to keep food out at all times so it is hard to keep Meryl on a diet. It is not healthy for cats to be overweight and we worry about Meryl.
Meryl has a playful side to her and enjoys running around the shelter and loves toys and the feather wand. She also loves Kitty DVD and gets very engrossed in the squirrels and birds! I bet she would love to have a window to sit and watch the real thing! So if you are looking for a sweet kitty to sit on the couch with you and watch TV and just hang out, and also have someone to play with, then please come meet Meryl. She would love to go home with you!

Michelle is a beautiful, sweet-natured torbie rescued from Lake Lanier last year. She had a congenital defect in her left eye, but had surgery to remove the eye while in foster care and has completely recovered. She is very friendly with other cats and loves people, but it takes a while to earn her trust. She is extremely playful and loves to be petted – especially on her back and tail - but does not like to be picked up or held. She adores her kittens, Iggy, Kiwi, and Boomer (born last May) and loves to play with them. She would love to be adopted with one of them, especially Iggy, but gets along exceptionally well with other cats and would make an excellent companion for a young cat or kitten. She cannot be the only cat in the household.
A generous donor has paid for Michelle’s adoption fee!!

Good Mews found out about a situation where someone had over 50 cats living in stacked cages in a dark shed. They had one light bulb for light. Some of these kitties had been living in these conditions for about 3 years. Obviously this is no way for any living being to live. We were able to assist with some of the cats, and a couple other groups were also able to help.
Most of these cats have never been socialized and only knew one person: the person who kept them in the cages. They lived in fear and always wondered what was going to happen to them.
Dooley and Misfit lived together in a cage and it is obvious they are brothers. They both have adorable chubby faces. They are still a little nervous about what is going on, but I can tell these boys will learn to trust much quicker than some of their friends. They are fine with being petted and held and Misfit will roll over for belly-rubs. They are going to need a patient adopter until they get used to living like a normal cat, but I have no doubt they will do just great.
Dooley and Misfit must be adopted together.

Mr Pibb and his friends were living in a home with over 200 cats. I am sure you can imagine what kind of conditions they were living in. Luckily animal control stepped in and saved them. Many were rescued or adopted, and there were several that had to stay at animal control for a few months until more rescues could help. We recently rescued several cats from 2 other hoarding cases, but we made room for a few more from this case. These cats have such sweet personalities that a few got adopted right away.
Mr Pibb is a very friendly guy that loves people and attention. He is outgoing and loves to greet you and ask for pets. He is fine with being held, but not for a long period of time. He has a funny bent tail and we are not sure why it is like that, but it gives him a lot of character. Mr Pibb would love a home where he can chill out with his family. We promised him we would find him a loving home and that is just what we are going to do!

Muffin and her brother Peanut were rescued by a Good Mews volunteer and ‘adopted’ into Cayley’s family, where they immediately felt right at home. Muffin has striking markings and a typical sassy torti personality. She’s still a bit skittish around people, but loves to play and goes crazy over treats. She will need time to adjust to new situations, but it’s certainly worth the effort to get to know her. She loves feather toys, the dragonfly toy, and any other toy she can chase and catch. She gets along with other cats, and would love to be adopted with her mom Cayley or her sister Jenga. She would also do fine in a household with another playful kitty companion.

Nina and Shadow are two of these kitties and are very afraid right now. They are going to need a loving, patient adopter so they can learn to trust at their own pace. It may take months, or it could take days. They just need the chance to learn what having a loving home is like. Once they feel safe, I know they will be wonderful companions.
Nina and Shadow are very bonded because they had lived in their cage together. They rely on each other and are required to be adopted together.

Hacker and his siblings Bernard and Appleby were found in the middle of Roswell Road on a very hot July day. Later they gained another sibling when Dorothy was introduced to the group.
Hacker is an old soul. He was the protector of his brother and sister (since neither of them could see very well), and is still their protector to this day. When he first arrived in his foster home, his foster mom noticed the bottoms of his feet were burned from the road, but his siblings were fine—that’s how protective he is towards them. Hacker is affectionate, but it will take him a while to warm up to you. He wants to know you won’t hurt him before he’s willing to trust you.
Once he does decide he can trust you, he’s extremely talkative. He will tell you EVERYTHING and likes to comment on what you’re doing. He’s very playful—the feather on the stick was how his foster mom started earning his trust—likes to play with a variety of toys and turn everything into a game.
He will make a bit of a mess when drinking water—not because he can’t see well, but because that’s what Appleby and Bernard do. It’s quite cute. He’s also really excited about food, but not a big eater, more of a grazer. He’ll talk constantly while you get it ready, but walk away and come back several times once it’s down for him.
